Birthday Bible Verse 9:28 (Belief) Victoria Ryan, August 31, 2021September 5, 2021 The verses that follow are for everyone, but they may have special significance for people born on September 28th. Read the verses and note the word, image, or feeling that stands out to you. Read them them a second time and again, note what stands out to you. Repeat for a third time. Then tell God how you feel. Sit in peaceful contemplation with Him and listen. Then gather your thoughts into a prayer. Keep something in your heart until your next meditation. When Jesus had gone indoors, the two blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I can heal you?” “Yes, sir!” they answered.Mt 9:28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive the spirit out?”Mk 9:28 The Transfiguration. About a week after he had said these things, Jesus took Peter, John, and James with him and went up a hill to pray.Lk 9:28 Bonus verse for subscriber Don: [Pharaoh said to Moses] Pray to the Lord! We have had enough of this thunder and hail! I promise to let you go; you don’t have to stay here any longer. (Exodus 9:28) [I don’t want to influence anyone’s reaction to the verses so please don’t read this, my reaction, until your prayer is over. I can’t get over the element of belief running through these verses. In the first, Jesus wants the blind men to believe He is the Son of the Father, not some charlatan practicing witchcraft. In the second, the disciples learn they couldn’t drive the demons out because they their faith, their belief, was too weak. And the third is one of the most famous “proofs” of heaven, life after death, and Jesus’ divinity in the bible. Do I look to God for the benefits it will bring me in this world, or do I look to Him because I want to be with Him in the next? Could I drive a demon out? Do I believe in the Transfiguration enough to let it change my life? What about you? What words stood out for you? What specific message do you hear the Lord giving you?] Thank you again for praying the bible birthday verses with us. As you know from the mini-newsletter, I am excited about sharing the bible with you beginning in September. I’ll be sharing my experience as a 6th grade catechist, teaching the bible to the students before we begin Confirmation preparation next year in 7th grade. Believe me (keeping with the theme), it will be a fun refresher course for you and will update your understanding of what it means to be Catholic. You can ask questions, too. I hope you’ll stop back Tuesday, September 7th. God bless you. Bible Birthday Verses Bible birthday versesCatholicMeditationPrayerReflection
