6th Grade Catholicism–Pop Quiz for Fish Sticks Victoria Ryan, September 9, 2021September 8, 2021 This quiz is for adults with a focus on Fish Sticks–my name for baby boomers who were taught during the Vatican II implementation. Fish Sticks can’t really be blamed for the poor faith formation they may have received; neither can their catechists. The 1960s (and beyond) was a tumultuous time on many fronts: the “free love” revolution, the Civil Rights movement, Vatican II, and bell-bottoms (considered by some to be the 11th plague.) Plus there were fewer nuns and priests resulting in the laity teaching the faith which some were just not prepared to do. There was a huge difference in the culture of the 1950s and that of the 1960s and the Catholic classroom was no exception.
